Committees

We have also found it necessary and important to form committees to accomplish our goals. Each member is required to be on at least one committee.

Development/Real Estate

Chair: Jessica Leonard

Through weekly meetings and rigorous effort, the Development/RE committee is responsible for mass mailings, newsletters, pamphlets, grant proposals, researching and contacting potential supporters, and advertisements (in publications such as Harvard Magazine.) The committee is responsible not only for raising additional funding for yearly operating costs, but also for raising an estimated one million dollars that it will cost to purchase a permanent space in Harvard Square for The Seneca and women of Harvard to call home. Once we have found a house for The Seneca, the committee will be in charge of its upkeep and administration. As having a house is one of the most important goals for The Seneca in achieving our mission, this committee is extremely vital in shaping the future of the organization as well as the Harvard community.

Campus Events

Chair: Niki Finelli

The Campus Events Committee is responsible for organizing social events for the Harvard undergraduate community. In the past these have included a tailgate at the Harvard-Yale football game, a night at the Comedy Connection, and parties in Boston. Because of the incredible response, The Seneca will continue to host these events, like Frost and the Red Party, while adding others, in order to expand our contribution to the Harvard social scene. Because of the large task before us, members of the Campus Events Committee are energetic, creative and dedicated to brainstorming and implementing new ways to make an impact on the Harvard campus.

Women's Outreach

Chair: Kristina Liu

The Women's Outreach Committee is committed to enriching the experience of women at Harvard. The opportunity for female students to build relationships and gather advice from more experienced women and each other is a critical part of our educational experience, and WOC create forums in which these types of interactions are possible. We accomplish this through networking with other women (both on campus and off), collaborating on initiatives that affect women, and hosting various events intended to inspire the student body and enhance our perceptions of ourselves. One forum for this is The Seneca Speaker Series, which brings several women of various backgrounds and perspectives to Cambridge each year to share their experiences and interact with Harvard students. This year, we also aim to host "in-reaches" for The Seneca, ranging from self-defense classes to career panels to small group discussions on issues that are affecting us. From our fun events, to our more serious ones, we celebrate the experience of women at Harvard... and have a great time in the process.

Internal Social

Chair: Aditi Mallick

Beginning with the initiation anf integration of the new members, and throughout the year, the Internal Social Committee seeks to build and nurture strong ties between the diverse members of The Seneca. With this goal in mind, the Internal Social Committee will host events as big as date events in downtown Boston and as laid-bacck as weekly lunches in the dining halls, while keeping its focus on engaging and supporting the most important part of The Seneca: the membership.

Public Relations

Chair: Emma Moretzsohn

The Public Relations Committee was created in order to help The Seneca establish relationships with the greater Cambridge and Harvard communities. It produces a semi-annual newsletter for family and friends of The Seneca, while also working to publicize club events. As the public face of The Seneca, the PR committee will serve to make the aims and ambitions of the club accessible to Harvard undergraduates, as well as presenting a cohesive identity to the general public.
